I have succeeded in abolishing our library (we are in the process of flushing out books in driveway sales) and formal dining room (it is scheduled to be converted to a guest bedroom).

I recently visited a "Sunset Boulevard" house in Quezon City that still had these two rooms. They were examples of very dead space indeed. A room in a home must be a place where everyone wants to be in. This house that I visited even had the additional dead space that I abolished from my own house long ago--the "foyer," the most pretentious interior feature in a tropical country where Jack Frost never comes, unless the climate changes further and winter finally comes to the Philippines.
